Welcome to this week’s edition of Quick Hit5er5! Today, we have a ton of football content, claim two more on the recruiting trail, license plates, historic games, the CSZ podcast, & much more! Without further adieu, here is this week’s…..Quick Hit5er5!
First off, we would like to put out a little plea to CardNation. Our friends Dave Scull from TCZ and Dre Spencer from Brotha to Brotha have both had gofundme accounts established to assist them in a time of need. Dave got really sick and needed help and in less than 12 hours you all represented! Now it’s Dre’s turn. You guys help him out if you can. I know he would appreciate it. You can donate below!
Now i will stick to sports……
Football (@UofLFootball)
Bye weeks suck. Bring on Miami. Cards by 9. We have a ton of football content in here this week. Jeff tells you if Louisville can win out and JK tells you everything you need to know about Louisville vs Miami. Big series announced for the not so near future and much more!
Staff predictions ****NOT DONE YET****
Men’s Basketball (@LouisvilleMBB)
One thing we learned from our opener vs Miami is that we may finally have a team in the Ville that will live up to it’s hype. The other thing we learned was that CSZ rules the world….well the world-wide leader of sports…for one night….
Lets get back on topic.
The Cards defeated Miami 87-74 in a game that was not close after about 6 minutes of game clock in the first half. Or as i referred to it.. “WHEN THEY FINALLY SWITCHED OVER FROM THE DANG SOCCER MATCH.” The Cards were up 32 at one point before resting their starters and letting the freshman play a little more. I won’t spoil Ben’s post game, that you can read here, but what I will say is that Ryan, Jordan, and Sutton stole..the..show! The Cards come home to play Youngstown State next.
Speaking of him. Our newest addition to the writing staff last season, Ben Gumbel, had an amazing series of breakdowns heading up to the first game vs Miami. You can check them out below:
We did learn that one of the Super 6, Jae’lyn Withers, will sit out this season and Redshirt. The 6-9 Forward from Charlotte was very upbeat about the decision:
“I’m all for it,” said Withers. “My potential is through the roof and I want to get to that untapped potential and hopefully go above it. I’ll still be in the wars with our guys as we advance through this season.”
We wish you the best of luck and know that you will show out in the future!
Recruiting

-As we predicted the night before on the CSZ Podcast (Check it out), Jordan Watkins made the flip complete as he left kentucky awhile back and came back home to Speed City. The do-it-all football player from Butler High School was a coveted addition to this class. He joins his buddies JMJ and Christian Fitzpatrick for the #FlyVille20 class. Super excited for a Fitz/Fitz/Tutu/Watkins spread offense. Takes me back to the days of the AFROS Boyd/Branch/Green/Parker/Sheffield days. Those were nice days…..

Also predicted on the CSZ Podcast (You really should check it out), was the destination for coveted recruit JJ Traynor. JJ is the son of former Louisville legend Jason Osborne and is the Cards 3rd commit for the 2020 class joining D’Andre Davis and #1 JUCO Guard Jay Scrubb. Read more from Shawn about this huge pick up!
Louisville Women’s Basketball (@UofLWBB)
It was announced earlier in the week that on 2-2-2020 the Louisville Women’s Basketball team will take on Team USA at the Yum Center! This event will surely sell out because of all of the uk fans that just are gonna show up to chant USA and MAGA….(Just a joke, maybe). To read more about this history making event, click here.
The Cards also took down WKU 75-56 in their opening game of the season. The GT transfers both scored double digits and Dana Evans led the team with 19 points. You can read about that one here.
It was also announced that Nyah Green and Ramani Parker would redshirt this season. Here are those details—-> Redshirt
