The 2015 season saw a carousel of QBs for Louisville. Reggie Bonnafon started against Auburn, but Lamar finished the game. Lamar started against Houston before being replaced by Kyle Bolin later in the game. The QB situation was unsettled, but it was obvious the young QB from FL had special talent.
That talent would be showcased in the closing game of the 2015 season when the freshman came in to the Governor’s Cup game on the road. Lamar led a big comeback as the Cards defeated their arch rival Cats. Lamar sliced up their defense and they had no answer. That performance earned him the starting nod in the 2015 Music City Bowl where he ran for over 200 yards and threw for over 200 yards to beat Myles Garrett and Texas A&M.
