With the 2022 class quickly approaching their senior seasons, attention has started to trickle down to the 2023 cycle as well. After putting together an impressive 2021 class, Louisville head coach Chris Mack looks to ride the momentum into the following campaigns as well. Luckily for the Cardinals, they don’t have to look far. The state of Kentucky has a handful of notable 2023 prospects that have already drawn interest from Louisville. Let’s take a look at each of the prospects that are/could end up on the team’s radar.
Louisville Male SF Kaleb Glenn
Measureables: 6-foot-6, 200 lbs
Ranking: 44th-overall, top recruit in KY (247Sports)
Notable offers: Louisville, Indiana, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Cincinnati, Arizona State, Wake Forest, West Virginia
Strengths: Athleticism, interior toughness, offensive efficiency, footwork in the paint
Louisville comparison: Chane Behanan build/Montrezl Harrell skillset
Bottom Line: Glenn is likely to be one of, if not the top prospect on the 2023 board. The Louisville native has visited the hometown Cardinals twice in the past month, while watching his stock soar. Keep an eye out on this one.
North Laurel CG Reed Sheppard
Measureables: 6-foot-2, 170 lbs
Ranking: 65th-overall, #2 in KY (247Sports)
Notable offers: Louisville, Iowa, Texas A&M, Arizona State
Strengths: Court vision, shot creation, three-level scoring, ball-handling
Louisville comparison: Quentin Snider
Bottom Line: This could very well turn into a Bluegrass battle between Louisville and Kentucky for Sheppard’s services. Despite him being a legacy recruit, the Cardinals will be in this recruitment until the very end.
Christian Academy G George Washington III
Measureables: 6-foot-2, 165 lbs
Ranking: 74th-overall, #3 in KY (247Sports)
Notable offers: Louisville, Ohio State, Auburn
Strengths: Advancing scoring repertoire, perimeter shooting, high-basketball IQ
Louisville comparison: Terry Rozier
Bottom Line: If Glenn and Sheppard are 1A/1B, Washington III are close behind them. A solid summer of AAU play and more games in front of Mack could potentially vault him into “must-get” status.
Ballard G Gabe Sisk
Measurables: 6-foot-3, 180 lbs
Ranking: NR
Notable offers: Iona, Eastern Kentucky
Strengths: Perimeter shooting, shot creation, size
Louisville comparison: Anton Gill
Bottom Line: It is yet to be seen if Sisk is a power-five conference level prospect, but Louisville will likely keep tabs. Sisk will need a big summer and junior season to become a possible option on the Cardinals’ radar.
