Louisville Volleyball Stays Undefeated With Huge Road Win At 6th-Ranked Nebraska

Louisville volleyball is looking like a true national championship contender. In their third top 10 matchup in just over a week, the Cards went on the road and defeated 6th-ranked Nebraska in straight sets 3-0.

The Cards are now 10-0 on the season. They might make their way into the top 3 after the massive success they’ve had recently.

Going on the road to face a powerhouse blue blood like Nebraska is no easy task, but the Cards handled the Cornhuskers with little trouble. Louisville dominated the first set and took it 25-17. In the second set, the Cornhuskers made things a little more difficult, but eventually they won it 25-20. The third set was pretty much all Cards as they won 25-18.

Redshirt junior Aiko Jones, sophomore Anna DeBeer, grad student Tori Dilfer, and grad student Anna Stevenson led the way for UofL. Jones recorded 10 kills, 2 aces, and 7 blocks. The 2 aces by Jones were the only ones recorded by Louisville in the match while her 7 blocks led the team. Stevenson led the team in kills with 11. She also recorded 6 blocks and 1 assist. DeBeer has 10 kills and 13 digs. Tori Dilfer led the team in assists with 34 and added 4 digs. Elena Scott led the team in digs with 14.

Another top 10 matchup, another match won for Louisville volleyball. It’s official. Coach Dani Busboom Kelly has her Cards red hot and she has positioned them as a legitimate contender for a national championship. In fact, here’s some stats our site leader Jeremy Wahman found to illustrate just how great the team has been this season:

The Cards return home to open conference play against the Miami Hurricanes on Friday, September 24th at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena. The Hurricanes will enter the contest at 9-1. Their only match loss came against UCF.
