Ever since Papa John’s name was removed from Cardinal Stadium, the hunt has been on for a new sponsor to take over naming rights. The hunt is over as L&N Federal Credit Union will now be the new sponsor of the stadium. And for the first time in recent memory, the stadium will not officially have Cardinal anywhere in its title. The official title will be L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium or simply L&N Stadium.

L&N secured the naming rights by committing to a 20-year term for $41 million. This is a huge coup for Athletics Director Josh Heird as it brings in a huge influx of revenue for UofL athletics. It will be a nice situation for L&N as it gets their local company national exposure.
While it will be hard for die hard Cards to call the stadium by any other name than Cardinal Stadium, it’s nice that a local company is the one to step up and sign on to sponsor the home town team’s facility. See you soon L&N StadIum!

Can’t we call it L&N Cardinal Stadium? That way we kill two birds with one stone.
