Name: Josie Williams
Height: 6’5
Position: PF/C
Louisville Stats: 3.1 ppg 1.9 rpg
As a grad transfer student, Williams came to UofL by way of the transfer portal from Utah Valley. Josie spent 4 years at Utah Valley, where she started every game from her sophomore year to her senior year. As a senior, Williams averaged 17.3 ppg and 12.4 rpg on her way to earning All-WAC First Team honors for the second straight season. While at UVU, Williams averaged 11.5 ppg and 7.4 rpg for her career.
Williams was brought in to add some more size, strength, shooting, and experience to a very talented front court. Although she hasn’t logged the minutes both she and the coaching staff hoped for coming into the season, Williams’ ability to stretch the floor has been valuable throughout the season.
Josie had season-highs in points (11) and assists (3) early in the season when the Cards defeated SIUE. Josie had a season-high 6 rebounds against Longwood back in November. In the Cards latest win over Miami in the YUM Center, Josie entered the game and almost immediately hit a big 3 for Louisville.
“Not many women’s basketball players get to experience playing in front of such a crowd and being around such support.”
