CSZ Staff Football Season Predictions 2024

Jeremy Wahman 10-2

Predicted 10 wins last year so why change it? The Cards have a friendly schedule & a loaded roster. The portal king delivered once again. The Cards will split at ND & Clemson. Is it the year we finally win at death valley? Maybe. Cards go 10-2 in the regular season & return to Charlotte to avenge last year’s close loss. Cards look poised to crash the CFP party in one year of the expanded playoff if Corito has anything to say about it. Fingers crossed.

Jeff Nunn 9-3

There isn’t a game on the schedule that we can’t win but keeping it real there are a couple teams that are better than us. Vegas posted the win total at 8.5 and most think 8 will be the total number of regular season wins. 8 won’t be disappointing but it will be just a MEH season. However, 9 would be a good season and 10, possibly 11, would be he amazing. The schedule is tougher this year than last and is pretty backloaded. I look for the Cards to start 5-1.

Higgy  10-2

The offense has the weapons to be another great Jeff Brohm offense. Tyler Shough is going to be a lot better than Plummer & be able to make big through. Ashton will have MONSTER season along with rest of the “Red Swarm” on Defense. One player I look to have break out season is Jamari Johnson because we have the depth at Tight End that Jeff Brohm wanted last season but now finally has to be able to use that position a lot more in his offensive game plan! We will be back in Charlotte there is no doubt Cardinal Family

Dalton Pence 10-2

I think the team is improved at almost every position, outside of running back. Even then, Louisville has a serviceable group at the least. A tougher schedule, mixed with the loss of Caullin Lacy for the first half of the season, presents challenges. I think the Cardinals fall to Miami and Clemson, but will be right in the mix for ACC Chanpionship game opportunities.

Shawn Barbour 10-2

Louisville football is set up for another great season. Even though I believe the QB position has been upgraded and the defense may be even better, I think 2 losses are still on the table. One of either Notre Dame or Clemson and 1 game we should win, but we either perform poorly or some other factor causes us to lose. 11-1 is possible, but 10-2 seems like the likely outcome. Good chance they’ll have a chance to get back to the ACC title game and a chance they could make the playoff.

TJ Barr 9-3

Louisville will take care of business at home this year, including beating a good Miami team. I think the losses could come at Notre Dame, either Pitt or Virginia and at Clemson. The losing streak to UK will come to an end.

Ben Gumbel 10-2

Losses: SMU, at Clemson – Louisville arguably overachieved last season in Coach Brohm’s first year. The schedule is definitely tougher this time around, but with an upgrade at quarterback the Cards have a chance to do something special again in 2024.

Brendan Holba  9-3

Austin Peay (Win) – Louisville’s superior talent and depth should lead to a comfortable win to start the season.

Jacksonville State (Win) – Another game where Louisville’s skill level will overpower a lower-tier opponent.

Georgia Tech (Win) – At home, Louisville should capitalize on Georgia Tech’s rebuilding process under a new head coach.

at Notre Dame (Loss) – Facing a strong Notre Dame team on the road is a significant challenge; a close but likely loss.

SMU (Win) – Louisville’s defense and home-field advantage should carry them against an SMU team in transition.

at Virginia (Win) – Louisville’s defense will likely dominate a Virginia team that’s struggled offensively.

Miami (50/50, Lean Win) – A tough game, but playing at home could tip the scales in Louisville’s favor against a talented Miami squad.

at Boston College (50/50, Lean Win) – This could go either way, but Louisville’s defense should make the difference.

at Clemson (Loss) – Historically, Clemson has had luck on their side when playing Louisville, and going in to Death Valley makes this a tough ask.

at Stanford (Win) – A long road trip, but Stanford is in a rebuilding phase, making this a winnable game.

Pitt (Win) – Louisville should have the edge at home against a Pitt team that may struggle with consistency.

at Kentucky (Win) – The rivalry game on the road is always intense, and Kentucky’s physical style will be a factor but Brohm won’t leave Lexington without a win.

Overall, I predict the Cardinals will finish with a strong 9-3 record. Brohm’s success in the transfer portal has brought in key additions, particularly at quarterback, and if these new players mesh well with the team’s solid defense, it promises to be another exciting fall in Louisville.
