The Cards went head-to-head with one of college basketball’s blue bloods on Friday night at the Yum! Center and didn’t back down. The Kansas Jayhawks’ late surge proved too much as the Cards fell 90-82. Conwell Jr., was in his bag with 26 points, keeping Louisville in it til the final minutes. The energy was high, the defense was tough; just couldn’t close it out. Despite the loss, Louisville showed growth and pressure, especially from Conwell Jr., who led all scorers with 26 points and kept the Cards within striking distance for most of the first half.
Louisville’s defensive intensity set the tone early, forcing Kansas into 13 turnovers. Still a big step forward heading into this season for this young team. You can feel the momentum building with this team; once they figure out how to finish these close ones, watch out.
The Cards will look to bounce back when they take on Bucknell, Oct 28th at 7pm.

That was a fanciful take on a game the Cards were not in position to win after they led 12-9. The Cards were sloppy, did not guard, and shot like a Kenny Payne squad.
