Saturdays Are For The CARDS!

Louisville delivered its most complete offensive performance of the young season on Sunday, dismantling Ohio 106–81 behind a barrage of three-pointers and crisp ball movement. The Cardinals shot an impressive 50 percent from the floor and 46 percent from deep, knocking down 16 threes that repeatedly broke open the game. Every time Ohio threatened to build momentum, Louisville answered with perimeter shot-making and unselfish play, piling up 23 assists on 34 made field goals.

Ohio simply couldn’t keep pace defensively, though guard Jayden Paveletzke turned in a standout effort with a game-high 28 points on an efficient 8-for-14 shooting. He was the Bobcats’ lone consistent source of offense, mixing tough drives with timely threes and near-perfect free-throw shooting. But outside of Paveletzke, Ohio struggled to sustain possessions; the Bobcats committed 17 turnovers that gifted Louisville 27 points, and they went scoreless from the field over the final 2:41, a drought that allowed the Cardinals to stretch their lead to as many as 26.

Louisville’s balance was the story. Ryan Conwell led the way with 22 points and five threes, including the dagger triple with 34 seconds left. Mike James Brown Jr. orchestrated the attack with 19 points and a team-high seven assists, while Isaac McKneely (15 points) and Sananda Fru (14 points) gave the Cardinals additional spacing and size advantages. Louisville also controlled the glass, out-rebounding Ohio 41–34 and snagging 17 offensive boards that repeatedly extended possessions.

For Ohio, there were glimpses—Javan Simmons’ nine rebounds, Aidan Hadaway’s physicality and 12 points—but not enough sustained execution to match Louisville’s firepower. The Bobcats never led, and their largest run of the night was just 5–0. Against a Louisville team firing on all cylinders, that margin for error proved far too thin.

Louisville hopes to keep up the momentum as they hit the road to face Cincinnati on Nov 21st at 6:30 on ESPNU!
