Starting this season, I am going to start bringing you the Cardinal Catch Up, which will update you on all of the “other” sports at UofL. We know that basketball and football get most of the attention, and for good reason of course. But this will let you know how the other teams are doing. I won’t write full stories on those sports, but will link┬áthe official press releases from UofL for the most part. I will at least tell you scores and records, just so you can stay informed on how the other teams are performing.

For example, you may not necessarily care about all of the details of a soccer or field hockey game, but you are interested to know how the teams are doing. This post will do that, just keeping it simple. And you will be provided with the press releases in case you do want the details of games and teams. It will be like a one-stop shop to find out how the rest of the teams at UofL are doing. Hope you enjoy!

*The women’s soccer team (1-1-0) will officially open the new and beautiful Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium tonight at 5:30 pm ET. They host Ole Miss and the match can be seen on ESPN3.

*The 9th ranked men’s soccer team will host #2 Maryland tonight in their debut of Lynn Stadium. It is set to start at 8:00 pm ET after the women’s match. You can watch the game on ESPN3.

*The volleyball team will open their season tonight against Wisconsin at 5:30 pm ET in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in Minneapolis. They will also face Minnesota on Saturday at 8:00 pm ET. The Cards were picked to finish 5th in the ACC. Katie George and Janelle Jenkins were selected to the Preseason All-ACC Team.

*The 15th ranked field hockey team opens their season with two games this weekend, both at home. They play St. Louis today at 4:00 pm ET and New Hampshire on Sunday at 1:00 pm ET.

*The cross country team will compete on Saturday in the Dayton Flyer 5K. It begins at 10:45 a.m. ET. In the ACC Preseason Poll, the men were picked to finish 8th, and the women 11th.

Go Cards. Beat everybody!
