News & Notes: Tuesday afternoon

*Charlie Strong will host his 4th annual Women’s Clinic on Saturday, June 1, at 3 pm in Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. With the cost of the clinic ($60), the women get coaching from Coach Strong and his staff, work in the weight room, dinner, and a t-shirt. Registration will begin at 2 pm in the PNC Club on the east side of the stadium. You can also register online at

*The UofL Softball team (46-11) earned the 15th overall seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament and will host a regional this weekend! The Cards will face IPFW (32-14) on Friday at 7:30 pm. UCLA takes on UAB at 5 pm at Ulmer Stadium. The Cards have beaten 4 of the top 12 overall seeds and played 17 games against NCAA Tournament teams.

*In Louisville baseball news, Coach Dan McDonnell notched his 300th victory as the head coach of the Louisville Cardinals. This happened Sunday when the Cards beat UConn 3-1. McDonnell is in his 7th season with UofL, and has led the team to six 40-win seasons.

*More baseball- the 10th ranked Cards (42-10) take on Ohio State (33-18) tonight at 6:35 pm in Columbus, OH. The Big Ten Network will show the game!

*Former men’s basketball assistant coach Mark Lieberman will be the new head boys’ basketball coach at Floyd Central High School. Lieberman worked for Rick Pitino for 2 years at UofL, and spent last season with Richard Pitino at FIU. He coached 13 years in Miami at Monsignor Pace High School, winning 4 state titles and going 335-95 as head coach!

*Men’s golfer Robin Sciot-Siegrist qualified for the NCAA Regionals May 16-18 in Columbus, OH. He has been named the Big East Men’s Golfer of the Week 3 times! And oh yeah, he is a freshman!

*Now time for another random video, having nothing to do with sports, but just for some entertainment. This one is a clip from one of my favorite shows, “Impractical Jokers.” This show can have me in tears, even if I am just watching by myself, and that is tough to do!
