Four-star safety Nilijah Ballew (Cincinnati, OH) took an official visit to Indiana this weekend. He was supposed to be visiting Louisville, but when the new coaching staff first contacted Ballew, they moved his visit date back to the weekend of January 31. So naturally, Ballew had to find other options just in case. It had just been learned that Daniel Gresham’s commitment would not be honored, so the smart thing was obviously to have a back-up plan.
So what did Ballew think of his visit with the Hoosiers? “I liked it enough to make it a toss up. I could possibly start right away at IU and it’s Big 10 football. I really enjoyed my visit and I’m deeply considering my other options.”
Indiana didn’t let much time pass before getting more pressure on Ballew. “Indiana linebackers coach, Coach Inge, came by the house today (Monday). It went very well and he’s a great man. Coach Wilson (head coach) is coming to the house next week.”
So if the Cards do plan to honor his commitment at the end of all this, do they even have a shot? Or is he IU’s to lose now? “I really don’t know,” Ballew said. “I would have to sit down and really think about it all.”
As of right now, he says that he will visit either Minnesota or Purdue next weekend. We will keep you posted on Ballew’s recruitment.
It’s just my opinion but this staff is doing a very poor job recruiting. Two steps backwards or more. This kid can play!
Yes he can and he wants/wanted to be here. I hope we hang on to him but the staff has their own visions I guess. It won’t matter down the road because they will get their own guys, but this class was just different since the staff came in and some guys decommitted and some guys didn’t have a choice because the staff didn’t want to bring them in. Recruiting is messy sometimes.
