BirdGang Clothing To Be Sold At Cardinal Authentic!

As a teammate and friend of mine, I am extremely excited that Dan Mosby (CFO) has continued to achieve. He will now be able to sell his companies clothing ,BirdGang , at Cardinal Authentic. We really did start from the bottom…no Drake. Here is the write-up from todays Louisville Business First.

Geared toward adherents of the “Louisville First, Cards Forever” mantra, a local clothing startup is all about the University of Louisville.

And it wants to be the first choice for Cards fan apparel.

Birdgang Brand LLC, founded in 2013, is an official licensed retailer for U of L apparel. It was formed after Kentucky hip hop group Nappy Roots worked with U of L to produce the song “L1c4.”

Most recently, the company has secured a deal to sell its clothing at the KFC Yum! Center, Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium and Jim Patterson Stadium, said Danny Mosby, CFO and a partner in Birdgang.

But, like any other startup, Birdgang Brand Clothing needs funding. So it has signed up for Louisville’s newest crowdfunding platform, Kiva Zip, where it’s seeking $5,000 to get the word out about its clothing.

“It’s important for us to kind of engage the community and be a part of the community,” Mosby said. “And I think Kiva, more than anything else, does that.”

Birdgang has raised 80 percent of its $5,000 Kiva Zip goal from more than 90 people who can lend as little as $5. The funds will be put toward a marketing campaign with Learfield Properties, which controls marketing at the stadiums; for scoreboard ads; for tabling space; and for promotions such as shooting shirts into crowds.

“All of that is geared around creating brand awareness and basically letting Cardinal fans know we exist,” Mosby said.

He declined to disclose the company’s 2014 revenue figures but said Birdgang company has turned a profit. Before seeking funding from Kiva, Mosby said, the company had raised $18,000 to date from local investors, including Dr. Kevin Trice, Paul and Peggy French, Ronnie Fisher Jr., Joy Lacy, and Martin Keltee Sr.
