Nunnsense| Louisville Can Make The Orange Bowl With A Little Help From The Defense

M66n10yj

I made it no secret that I was happy with the departure of defensive coordinator,Todd Grantham. I think he did a good job for most of his tenure but he reached a point where the defense no longer was getting better even with NFL talent. I mean, if I could figure out that he was going to blitz on every third down then so could any division one coach.

I also made it no secret that the hiring of Peter Sirmon was questionable in my opinion. Not because he wasn’t a good coach but the fact that we didn’t know if he was or not. I believe that being a coach at Louisville is no longer a stepping stone job but rather a destination job. Therefore I felt we didn’t need to hire an up and coming young coach who needed to prove himself. We needed to go out and get the best proven guy that we could.

Many people blasted Sirmon from the start because of his stats from his last job at Mississippi State. I decided to reserve judgement and give him a chance to prove himself.

Well, it’s only been six games but I’m seeing trends that I don’t like. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt because he has not had the services of his preseason All-American, Jaire Alexander, due to injury and Drew Bailey has been injured as well. Now linebacker Stacy Thomas is out. But that is all part of it and he needs to make adjustments to play with the personnel he has.  Read the rest of this entry

Here are the Bowl projections after Saturdays embarassment vs uk. Not as bad as it could have been. Having the Heisman trophy favorite may be the reason why we are still in contention for a NY6 bowl. If we do not get this bowl, my guess would be that we end up in the Citrus Bowl.

Bowl Projections After A Weekend Of Chaos

For the first time since 1985, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ranked teams all lost on the same day. Everyone said just wait for the chaos to happen. Well, it happened but was it so much chaos that nothing actually changed or will there be a complete shake up? Nobody knows what the next two weeks will yield and nobody really knows what the college football playoff committee is thinking. All anyone can do is speculate. It’s always fun to think what if Louisville makes the playoffs. Realistically there is still a chance but I maintain my opinion that 3 days after Louisville drops 80 points in a victory over UK, the playoff committee will leave Louisville at the #5 spot, just missing the playoffs and setting up an Orange Bowl date with a Big 10 team. I hope am wrong because I truly believe Louisville is one of the best four teams in the country. That’s my opinion and bowl projection for Louisville. Now here is SB Nation’s updated bowl projections after a weekend of CHAOS.

ESPN’s Brett McMurphy and Mark Schlabach make their bowl projections after the week 3 games. Can Louisville make it to the college football playoffs or will they make a New Years Day bowl game? I am usually not a fan of bowl projections this early in the season but man is it fun to think about playing for a national championship and if nothing else, it’s fun to see that the rest of the world is finally taking us seriously. Here is the bowl projections… Read the rest of this entry

So there are the current projections which all of them have us going to Orlando for the Florida Citrus Bowl. However I believe it will be UCF playing in their home city and Louisville in the BCS for a second straight year. I project that we will play in the Sugar Bowl for the second straight season vs Mizzou, A&M or Auburn.

Bowl Projection has the Cards in the Sugar Bowl

Jerry Palm has released his bowl projections for this season on cbssports.com, and he has UofL in a rematch of one of the biggest wins in program history. He projects the Cards to make it all the way to the Sugar Bowl to face…Alabama. These teams faced off in the 1991 Fiesta Bowl, with Louisville winning 34-7!  Here are some fun facts about that game from fiestabowl.org , followed by the link to the rest of Palm’s bowl projections.
