Rick Pitino dropped some hints at today’s press conference that a couple of players could transfer out of the program. We have now learned that one of those will happen, and that is Anton Gill.

Gill averaged 2.5 points, 0.8 rebounds, and 0.5 assists in 9.4 minutes per game this season. He is from Raleigh, North Carolina and I would be surprised if he ends up anywhere but a school in his home state. Former UofL assistant Kevin Keatts is the head coach at UNC-Wilmington, so keep that one in mind.
From UofL:
“Anton is one of the finest young men that I have had the privilege of coaching the past two years,” said UofL Coach Rick Pitino. “He is a bright, articulate, hard-working young man that we will miss very much. I agree with his decision and have given him his release to attend any university he desires. He wants to play major minutes and I believe he has a bright future ahead of him. We thank him for his dedication to our team.”
“I want to thank all of my coaches and teammates for two great years,” said Gill. “I really appreciate all of the support I received from everyone. I’ve talked to my family and will take my time to look at my next step after I finish out this semester. I’m just looking for a fresh start to try something new.”
This probably won’t be the only transfer news.
