Even though I was highly disappointed by the attendance, the ones that did show up, showed out. The Cards did too as QB Lamar Jackson threw for 454 yards & 7 Touchdowns on 23-28 p[assing….at the half. Of course it was against the second string but it was evened out a little today so it still was a sign of things to come. The Offensive line looked flawless and points towards us having a 50 ppg team in my opinion. Right after the game 4* P300 recruit Malik Cunningham committed to the Cards and a few more are expected. BOX SCORE

(Press Release)

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville rising sophomore quarterback Lamar Jackson threw for 519 yards and eight touchdowns, leading the Red team to a 73-7 victory over the White team on Saturday in the annual Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Spring Game.

Jackson, coming off a terrific freshman campaign that culminated with bowl MVP honors, completed 24 of his 29 passes, including an impressive 85-yard strike to James Quick toward the end of the second quarter. Jackson capped the half with a 54-yard score to Jamari Staples, his third touchdown pass of at least 40 yards.

The White team’s backfield of Jeremy Smith and Malin Jones combined for 125 yards on 12 carries and one touchdown. Jones punched in the lone offensive score for the squad, with a 65-yard scamper less than a minute into the third quarter.

Quick paced an explosive day for the Red team’s receiving corps, leading the way with 152 yards on five catches and one score. Jaylen Smith also had five receptions and finished with 99 yards and one touchdown.

Tight end Cole Hikutini – the only other player with five receptions – was on the receiving end of Jackson’s first two touchdown passes, an eight-yarder and a seven-yarder. He logged 75 yards.

The Boynton Beach, Fla., native, Jackson showcased his rushing abilities – on a smaller scale than he had during the 2015 campaign – with 31 yards on six carries.

Though the game’s focus was on the offensive side of the ball, Louisville had plenty of bright spots on defense.

Stacy Thomas and Chucky Williams each had a Red-team best seven tackles, with Thomas recording 2.5 for loss. DeAngelo Brown (2.0), James Hearns (2.5), Josh Harvey-Clemons, and Drew Bailey all had at least 2.0 tackles for loss in the victory.

Alphonso Carter and Zykeisis Cannon led the White team with eight tackles apiece.

Louisville’s Red team opened the day with a 37-yard field goal off the foot of Evan O’Hara, giving the winning team a 3-0 advantage less than eight minutes into the contest.

During halftime, eight Cardinals were recognized as recipients of team awards: Tobijah Hughley (scholar-athlete of the year), Jermaine Reve (comeback), Brandon Radcliff (offensive grinder), Keith Kelsey (defensive grinder), Reggie Bonnafon (most versatile), Jackson (offensive player of the year), Devonte Fields (defensive player of the year), Sheldon Rankins (team MVP).
