Quick Hit5er5

Welcome to this first installment of Quick Hit5er5. It’s a new thing I’m trying that’s a hybrid of 55, the longest running episodic piece in CSZ history (maybe), and Live with 55, the podcast which Turtle never actually saved. There will be no concrete format. Just a bunch of UofL and personal info; whatever I feel like writing.

The itch to write again came from two things: A long vacation, which was a good thing, and my dad being put into the hospital which was not a good thing. I am happy to report that he is doing good this morning so far.

I used to do weekly columns that I loved to do and you all seemed to love as well. I’m going to try my best to get on here and recreate the magic. My dad loves when I write and I truly don’t know how much time I have left with either of my parents. In the last few months, I have been through a lot. I injured my knee badly two months ago, my dad was put in the hospital yesterday, and we are ready to share now that my wife had a second case of bells palsy a few weeks ago. So, you now see why I’ve asked for prayers. Not out of pity, but because I needed them. Ok. Enough about me! Let’s talk sports!

In the past several Nunnsense’s (not a word) Jeff talked about the football teams win total for this year. Normally I’m the guy that used to pick Louisville to go undefeated or give us a few wins I hoped for, but really knew we were not going to follow through with. I love my Cards and I just get carried away. I say that to say this. Louisville SHOULD win 5 games this year. Louisville CAN win 6. However, I WILL set the win total at 4.5 for the season.  Let me know if you agree or disagree in the comments section here or on social media! I know a 4 or 5 win season sounds like crap after what we went through, but we just overhauled an entire staff. I trust in Satterfield, Brown, Dennison, Brown, Ledford, and all of the other coaches. It can’t be worse.

Man this seems like a long time ago, doesn’t it? After all of the scandals, personnel changes, and trials and tribulations, we can finally heal. What affect will these scandals have on our legacy long term? There have been other schools that have had much more severe punishments that walk around today acting like they never happened. Yes I-64 East, I’m looking at you. But I digress. With the Super 6 coming in and the talent we return from last year, the sky is the limit. Our return to glory and to making the bad a distant memory is imminent.

A little treat for you all will be coming in September as episode #3 of the CSZ x BRL podcast will be recorded and released. It will feature Louisville great Dejuan Wheat plus a few surprises 👀👀👀👀

Even though the season wrapped up a little over a month ago, we still have baseball on the mind. We will also be releasing episode #2 of the CSZ x BRL podcast in a few weeks. It will feature former Cards Colin Lyman and Asaad Ali plus current Card…Luke Smith. He said fondue and you can’t convince me otherwise.

Ok, so I know what you are thinking. That was not quick. I apologize. I had a lot to get off of my chest. I promise in the future that they will be more concise and to the point. I do want to thank you all for checking out the debut edition of the ** CSZ-BRL Podcast in July on hallaboutsports.com, Barnburner, and CSZ. Monster numbers just like the old CSZ podcast days. I was very proud and humbled.

As we kick off the athletic calendar here soon, let me wish all of the reporters, radio hosts, and bloggers the very best as we start the new year. This has been one of the grumpiest off-seasons in recent memory. Maybe all we need is a few wins to calm us down.

Don’t forget to follow CSZ on Twitter at @CardSportZone, IG at @CardSportsZone, or make it Facebook official and like us there! You can also just go to CardinalSportsZone.com and subscribe to email notifications. Get some of the stories hours before the others! We are working hard on some good and new things coming up this season. We’ve had our rest. Time to grind!

Also get out and follow @replouisville on Twitter. His graphic designs are second to none and has a cool clothing line out. Check him out!

Lastly, shout out to my wife, buddy Chris, and Steve Rummage, co-host of Middays with Marques Maybin, (he still makes me say that) as they were able to truly surprise me for my birthday. 2nd time since becoming an adult. I had a great vacation with them, Charity, Jayla & the crew. I have great friends. If you are or ever have been my friend I appreciate you more than you know.  Also CardNation, thanks for the prayers. Until next time…This..is..Quick Hit5er5!

P. S.-It was not quick and I will attempt to do it quicker next time. Love yall!
