The day started with the jersey ceremony for Card forever Anthony Floyd. Then Card forever, Eric Wood, spelled out the C-A-R-D-S cheer. Louisville scored early and looked good because Boston College entered the day scoring 16.3 points per game and were 121st in the country in scoring before Saturday. But the Card defense gave up 45 points, 555 total yards (364 of those rushing yards). AJ Dillon ran for more yards (272) than any other Louisville opponent had before. Lamar was 19 of 39 passing for 332 yards and 2 passing touchdowns. He rushed for 180 yards on 22 carries and scored 3 rushing touchdowns. Dez Fitzpatrick finished with 7 catches , 127 yards and a touchdown.

Red-White Scrimmage Photo Gallery

Last night was a return to normalcy for cardinal Basketball and fans alike. With an expected attendance of 4,000 fans, once again we did not let them down. About 7,000 people showed up to watch the first Red-White Scrimmage of the season. Coach Padgett was very appreciative. “The ovation I received at the beginning of the scrimmage was extremely humbling” he said at the post game presser. The pre-game intros were high energy as you could tell Card Nation was ready to put the past in the past. The actual game was very entertaining highlighted by a pair of dunks on Anas, one by Deng & one by Jo Griffin. Oof. The Red team pulled away with a 94-80 victory over the white team despite the efforts of Gerald cheering the Red team on. For the Red team Deng Adel went for 32 points and 13 rebounds and Ray added 22 points and 16 boards of his own. “If Deng, Ray, Malik and that Frontcourt can rebound like that during the regular season, we are gonna be in good shape” said Padgett. For the White team VJ scored 30 but turned the ball over an uncharacteristic 9 times. Malik had 17 rebounds and Jordan Nwora added 18 points off of 50% shooting including 4-6 from 3 pt land. Overall it was a great night and you can tell that this is a high energy group who can score. Buckle up CardNation, it’s gonna be a fun ride this season. We need and deserve a fun one too. Oh yeah, Jeff Nunn took a lot of great pics, check them out!

Nunnsense: VJ, Rick, Kyle, Russ,Teddy And More

Louisville_Cardinals_wordmark

I’ve been on vacation for a week therefore I have a lot to catch up on so this week’s edition of Nunnsense will be a potpourri of topics. I was enjoying my family time on vacation so much that I didn’t even watch the college basketball national championship game. I knew that since I didn’t watch there would be an epic finish. And of course, I was correct. Congrats to Villanova. I took the vacation week and removed myself completely from the sports world. Well, almost……..

55 (Episode 17)

55-9

This week…..on 55…..

We talk about huge basketball wins, Women’s Basketball advancing to the AAC tourney final, Sr night and the end of 55? And much, much more.  Well here we go. Once again, I share with you the 55 most ridiculous things I have heard, had to debate, or just thought about this past week. This …..is….55.

1) For all that have been asking, Mom got out of the hospital this weekend, your prayers were appreciated and mine were answered. Thank you guys so much…..

2) Saturday was Sr night for the winningest Senior class in UofL Men’s Basketball history….Thanks go out to each and every one of you guys.

3) Here is a personal thanks to each of you individually

5) Tim Henderson: Wichita…the kid got a nickname! Without a doubt the 2nd biggest inspiration during the tourney run last year behind Kevin Ware. This guy was always underappreciated by the fanbase and always worked so hard.

He got in and extended our title run with 2 shots that will go down in Louisville history. Tim, as one of your biggest skeptics the first 2.5 years I wanna say thank you for all you have done. Maybe this year we can use some more Wichita magic!

6) svt

7) Stephan Van Treese: SVT, SVB, VAN BEAST, Big Hustle. The man of many nicknames for many UL fans. One of the few guys that I can remember who gave his all every single play. Another key factor to our success. You need a hustle play and he will take care of it for you.

A member of one of the most troubled recruiting classes we have had along side of Swop, Marra & Buckles…Siva was fine as we know…SVT decided to come back this year and make it count and boy did we ever need him. Big Hustle, to you I salute you sir!

8)

Luke Hancock

9) Luke Hancock: Lukeeeeeeeeeee (11 e’s because he is #11, duh) Luke is without a shadow of a doubt the most impactful transfer I can remember with Clifford Rozier being my #1 prior. The guy who single handedly turned around the NCAA title game after we got Spike’d (I still don’t believe it).

and just like that, and a Trezl dunk, in a blink of an eye Louisville came back to beat Michigan for it’s 3rd NCAA title. Thank you to the M.O.P. of the NCAA Final Four Luke Hancock. After losing his dad and playing for our country this past summer, Luke looks like he’s in Luke Tourney form from last year. Thanks again Luke….you will be remembered forever….
