Just over 24 hours ago, the Vikings were eliminated from the NFL Playoffs. Now, the fight for the starting quarterback position has begun, and Teddy is letting everyone know where he stands. He fully believes he will be the starter for the Vikings this fall, despite the fact he is an unrestricted free-agent and the Vikings did not pick up his 5th year option. We here at CSZ surely hope he is right!
We are not worthy of Lamar Jackson. Truly. After signing autographs the last few weekends at local Planet Fitness’s, he donated part of his profit back to the organization behind it all.
Keep at it 8, you make us all proud!

Planet Fitness has announced that Lamar Jackson will be back for three more autograph signings this weekend. Saturday (1/20) Jackson will be at the Valley Station location from 10-noon. That same day, he will be at the Elizabethtown location from 5-7 pm. On Sunday, (1/21), he will be at the Hurstbourne pkwy location from 1-3 pm.
While Lamar Jackson will not be wearing a UofL jersey in the fall, that does not mean all hope is lost. UofL football still has some key players returning for the 2018-2019 season, and Bobby Petrino is really excited about how the team is already shaping up.
Cardinal forever, and Louisville native, Reggie Bonnafon gave his all to CardNation for four years. No fan will ever forget his epic game at Notre Dame when he took down the Irish (as a true freshman)! Take a look at some of his career highlights below!
He truly may be, the greatest of all time.
Press release from the University of Louisville athletic department:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – One of the greatest players in University of Louisville and Atlantic Coast Conference history, junior quarterback Lamar Jackson has decided to forgo his final year of collegiate eligibility and declare for the 2018 NFL Draft.
In just three seasons, Jackson put his imprint on the Louisville program, becoming the school’s first Heisman Trophy winner, attaining numerous player of the year awards, and rewriting the school and conference record books.
Late Wednesday night, Geron Christian took to Instagram and Twitter to announce he is forgoing his senior season. We here at Cardinal Sports Zone would like to wish Geron the best of luck as he prepares for his future and to thank him for three years of heart and dedication!
3 years later and I have become an outstanding scholar, a wonderful father, and an exceptional athlete. I have been honored to go through my collegiate journey as an LOUISVILLE CARDINAL. As I say goodbye and take my next step in the 2018 draft I just wanted to take this time to thank my family, teammates, friend, coaches, and fans for your support.
Cardinal forever, Preston Brown led the NFL in tackles this year with 144. He is currently playing on the Buffalo Bills, who just snapped a 17 year postseason drought this weekend.
The University of Louisville Cardinals have been in Jacksonville preparing for their game against Mississippi State this coming Saturday. Check out the best pictures so far courtesy of UofL Football twitter!

Our friends at ACC Digital Network put together an awesome preview of the TaxSlayer Bowl. The University of Louisville will take on Mississippi State at Noon on December 30th in Jacksonville. Are you going to the game?
Hall of Fame coach and former Heisman winner, Steve Spurrier has nothing but great things to say about Lamar Jackson. Not only does he think Jackson will be a first round draft pick, he believes he will be a great NFL quarterback. You can read everything he had to say below thanks to the Courier Journal.
Sure, Saturday night did not go the way any UofL fan wanted it to. Seeing Lamar lose the Heisman (by coming in third!?) But our friends at All Sports DACC bring up some great reminders of why UofL fans should still be extremely proud of Lamar and the year he had.
Senior running back, Jeremy Smith will be transferring from UofL. His father announced this on Monday night. He maintains that he loved his time at the University of Louisville but after having to take a medical red shirt for this season, he wants to use his last year of eligibility at a school he will get more playing time at. We here at Cardinal Sports Zone wish him nothing but the best for Jeremy moving forward and thank him for the last three years.
Lamar Jackson has a lot on his plate at the moment. Finals just took place, he is currently in New York enjoying being a finalist for the Heisman for the second year in a row, preparing for Mississippi State in the TaxSlayer Bowl. Yet, we live in a world that is always looking ahead, so people are ready to find out if Lamar will be playing on Saturday or Sundays next year.
Lamar Jackson, whenever a cardinal fan hears, reads or sees his name, their faces light up. Rightfully so. Lamar is currently in New York preparing for the Heisman ceremony, hoping to become only the second person to ever win the Heisman twice. Throughout all of his interviews, one thing has remained constant in the craziness, the love he has for his teammates and coaches. Not only is Lamar a once in a lifetime player, he is a once in a lifetime young man. No matter what the voters decide, I want Lamar on my team, every day, all day.
