Cards in the NBA Summer League: 7/5/14

NBA

Be sure to check out CardinalSportsZone.com over the next few weeks to keep up with how the former Cards are doing in the NBA Summer Leagues. When all the games are done for the day (with former Cards in them), we will update you on how they did for that day.

Today the Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic played, which meant we kept an eye on Peyton Siva and Luke Hancock. Siva had a really good game, but Hancock not so much.

*Peyton Siva – Siva needs to have a solid summer to remain with the Pistons. We told you about that earlier this week. He certainly got off to a good start today. The Pistons beat the Rockets 95-89 if anyone is concerned with the score. Siva played 27:47 and had 16 points and 6 assists with only 2 turnovers. He also had 1 rebound and 1 steal. He shot 4-8 from the field, including 1-2 from 3 point, and was 7-9 from the free throw line. The Pistons were +15 with Siva on the floor. If you don’t know what that means, it simply means that while Siva was in the game, the Pistons outscored the Rockets by a total of 15 points. Sometimes it is a very overrated stat, but not so much with the point guard, especially the way the Pistons were playing with and without Siva today. The Pistons are back in action on Sunday at 3:00 pm ET on NBA TV as they take on the Memphis Grizzlies.

*Luke Hancock – Nothing to report on Luke today, as he did not see the floor for the Magic. Orlando has 19 people listed on their summer league roster, and 9 of them did not play today. I didn’t get to see the game, so I can’t say either way if 19 players were dressed to play. But it wasn’t just Luke that didn’t play, so hopefully he sees some action in their next game. They play again Monday at 5:00 pm ET on NBA TV against the Houston Rockets.
